Trillevallen: The Small, Family-Friendly Ski Resort

Where the locals of the more extensive ski system in Åre go skiing
Location: Western Jämtland, Sweden

Introduction

Are you tired of spending time in the queue waiting for the lift? Or would you like to experience well-groomed pistes despite it being late in the afternoon? Do you want a family-friendly resort where all pistes lead to the same base camp? Trillevallen, the small ski resort in western Jämtland, invites you to harvest white gold this winter!

The Family Friendly Ski Resort with a View

The ski system is tailored for families that do not require thousands of pistes and complicated lifts that take you around to different valleys. The family-friendly atmosphere of Trillevallen will stun you as the staff is locals with a passion for seeing young skiers develop. Because the slopes are located on the eastern side of a mountain, this means that the system is relatively sheltered from the western winds that can roar above the treeline. This also means that Trillevallen is generally a safe bet because they have plenty of snow.

The ski system starts around the treeline with magnificent views of Lake Håckren and the wilderness of Anaris, Lunndörren, and Vålådalen. Because many families are going here and tend to stick to the less steep slopes, someone looking to ski well groomed steeper pistes can enjoy having most of the areas for themselves. When the more famous ski system Åre gets too crowded – this is where the locals go to.

Depending on the weather, Trillevallen can be the best place in the region for off-piste skiing if the other ski systems are closed due to high winds. However, all the slopes face the same easterly direction, so if conditions are not the best there, it will be the same on the whole face.

For the person looking for more horizontal skiing, Trillevallen has one of the country’s best track systems for cross-country skiing – something the village is very proud of.
